Whisco TV Guide

Filipino shows in the Gulf, from the channels that own them

Filipino households in Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia already know the titles. The hard part is watching them without a box that quits, and without paying a stranger for a channel ABS-CBN or GMA already puts out itself.

Where the official copies are

GMA and ABS-CBN publish news and a large share of entertainment on their own YouTube channels. A full episode that carries the network’s name, on that network’s channel, is the copy to use. The player is YouTube’s. The network keeps the ads inside it. A re-upload with a slightly wrong logo, or a Telegram folder of the same episode, is not the same thing and is the one to skip.

Whisco’s Filipino shelf, where a title is listed, is meant to point at those official uploads. If a title is missing, it is missing because that official copy was not the row we could verify. It is not a prompt to go looking for a copied file.

What a week of watching looks like

News is the easy part. GMA News and UNTV run live streams on their own channels, and those are the ones worth saving on the television. Teleserye episodes are slower. Networks put some full episodes up and hold others for their own app or for a partner. If this week’s episode is not on the official channel, it is not “free somewhere else.” It is not out for this kind of viewing yet.

iWant, Kapamilya Channel arrangements, and GMA’s own app are the paid or registered doors for what YouTube does not carry. A Gulf card sometimes fails on those apps. That is a billing limit, not a reason to switch to a playlist.

A practical setup

On the television, subscribe to GMA News, GMA Network, and ABS-CBN News. Use those subscriptions for the evening bulletin. For a series, open the network channel and look for the episode with the network’s own title card. If Whisco has the series, start there and confirm the player is YouTube, not a bare video file.

No seller in a compound has a special Filipino package that the networks forgot to charge for. If the price is a few dinars for “all teleserye,” the supply is not official, and it will break the week the source is cut.
